Why We Built This Site
Minnesota gives the public a good deal of court information, but the hard part is learning which office holds the piece you want. A warrant does not sit in one place. The District Court that issues a warrant sets the charge and the bond, and Court Administration keeps the case file. The sheriff serves the order and can say whether it is still outstanding.
Koochiching adds a wrinkle that surprises people who move here from states with layered courts. Minnesota runs a single unified District Court, so the criminal, traffic, and ordinance cases that would sit in a city court or a justice court elsewhere all land in the Koochiching County District Court. There is no separate municipal warrant counter to visit, and a search that misses the county court will come back empty for the wrong reason. That is why so much of what follows points back to the courthouse on 4th Street.
A reader can check one office, find nothing, and believe the record is clear when it is not. This site gathers the contacts, search steps, case-number formats, and records-request routes for those offices in one place, so a check starts where it should.
What You Will Find Here
- Warrant checks: how a warrant check works across the court case search, Court Administration, and the sheriff
- Outstanding warrants: what to do when the county publishes no active warrant list and the answer has to come from a case file
- Missed court dates: how bench warrants arise and which court holds the file afterward
- Charge-based warrants: how arrest warrants are issued, served, and recorded in the county
- Resolving a warrant: the steps a person can take, from hiring an attorney to a court appearance, bond, or a motion to recall
What We Cannot Do
This is a privately run reference site. We have no connection to the Minnesota Judicial Branch, the Koochiching County Sheriff's Office, or any city office. There are real limits to what we can help with:
- We cannot run an official warrant check or confirm whether a warrant exists for anyone
- We cannot remove, recall, quash, or clear a warrant in any system
- We cannot post bond or accept any payment toward a warrant
- We cannot arrange a surrender, a court date, or a walk-through with an agency
- We cannot give legal advice or say how a particular warrant applies to you
- We cannot promise that every phone number, fee, or record listing here is current today
Only the court that issued the warrant or the sheriff's office that holds it can confirm whether a warrant exists and whether it has been recalled or cleared. We can point to the right office, but the answer has to come from that office.
Search Partners
Search boxes on this site run on outside providers. Those companies set their own prices and operate their own services. When a tool leads to a paid signup, we may receive a referral fee, and that revenue keeps this site free to read. We do not control what a partner charges or what its results contain, and nothing from a partner tool counts as an official warrant check.
