Data You Give Us Directly
Search Queries
Anything you type into a search box on this site, whether it is a name or a date of birth, travels straight to the outside provider that operates that tool. The provider processes the query and sends back the results. We do not keep a log of the terms you search on our own systems.
Messages and Contact Submissions
If you email us, that message stays on file so we can answer it. It remains inside our team. We do not pass it to anyone outside the organization unless a legal duty requires it.
Data We Gather Automatically
Each time a page here loads, our servers capture a set of technical details about the visit:
- The IP address assigned to the device you are using
- Your browser and its version number
- Your device type and operating system
- Which pages you opened and how long each one stayed on screen
- The site or link that sent you here, when there is one
- A timestamp for every page view
Cookies and Analytics
This site uses cookies, which are small files placed on your device. They help us see how visitors move through the site, including which pages draw the most traffic and where people tend to stop reading. Analytics services help us roll that traffic data into totals. Your browser settings let you refuse cookies at any time, though parts of the site may behave differently if you do.
What We Do With This Data
- Keeping the site online, running, and loading at a reasonable speed
- Routing your search request to the correct partner service
- Learning which pages readers find useful and which need improvement
- Finding and repairing technical problems
- Displaying ads that may match your interests
No Warrant Data on File
This site does not host, keep, assemble, or sell any database of warrants or personal warrant records. What we publish is general guidance about where Koochiching County warrant records are held, and how a reader can check them through the District Court, Court Administration, and the sheriff's office. We are not a consumer reporting agency under the Fair Credit Reporting Act, and nothing we collect about visitors is turned into consumer reports or files about other people.
Third-Party Search Partners
The search boxes on this site belong to outside companies. Whatever you enter into one of those tools is handled under that partner's privacy policy rather than this one. Partners decide their own retention and sharing practices, and we do not control those choices. Read the partner's policy before you submit a search.
Links to Other Websites
This site links out to court pages, sheriff's office pages, Minnesota state resources, legal aid organizations, and third-party search services. Following any of those links takes you off this site, and from that point the destination's privacy policy governs your visit. Read it before you share personal details.
Some advertising partners may follow your activity across multiple sites in order to show targeted ads. That tracking runs on their systems, not ours.
Who Might See Your Data
We do not sell personal data. Some information may reach:
- Search partners that handle the queries you run here
- Analytics services that measure traffic and performance
- Ad networks that place advertising on our pages
- Law enforcement or government bodies when a valid legal order requires disclosure
How We Protect Your Data
We follow standard security practices to guard the data we collect. Nothing connected to the internet is entirely safe, however. We take reasonable steps to protect your information, but we cannot promise that a breach will never happen.
Users Under 18
This site is written for adults. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If you believe a minor has shared data with us, contact us and we will remove it.
Your Data Rights
Minnesota law, including the Minnesota Government Data Practices Act (Minn. Stat. ch. 13), governs how government offices handle data, and other state and federal rules may give you rights over information a private site collects. At a minimum, you can:
- Ask for a copy of what we hold about you
- Ask us to correct information that is wrong
- Ask us to delete your data
- Opt out of certain kinds of processing
Updates to This Policy
We may revise this privacy policy in the future. When that happens, the new version appears on this page with a fresh effective date. Check back if you want to track how visitor information is handled.
Effective date: September 15, 2026
